The Luxe Lounge Pillow Pattern

luxe-lounge-pillow-pattern-on-cozy-bench.jpg

Add a touch of style and comfort to your space with the Luxe Lounge pillow pattern. This versatile accent pillow is perfect for a bed, an indoor or outdoor bench, or your favorite cozy retreat.

Designed for easy construction, this project is fantastic for showcasing decorative threads and stitches — whether you’re using an overlock, coverstitch, chainstitch, or even embroidery and built-in decorative sewing machine stitches. (I created mine on the BERNINA L890)

5 Fabrics + Fun Embellishments

Mix n’ match to suit your style and stash! The featured pillow combines five quilting-weight cotton fabrics, with the center panel’s floral appliqués cut from the fifth fabric. Feel free to customize your design with more or fewer fabrics. Yardage will vary based on your creative choices.

The Luxe Lounge Pillow Pattern is available in print, as a downloadable PDF, or as part of a workshop and pattern bundle. Join the live workshop on June 14th to stitch along in real time, or purchase the replay to watch and learn at your own pace.

Belt Loop Folder Dimension

The front of the Luxe Lounge Pillow features 9 panels joined with top and bottom bands. Finished belt loop strips (or trim) are stitched to cover each panel seam, adding a dimensional touch and rich texture. The pattern includes a variety of customization options and bonus QR codes to access videos for extra guidance.

For added visual interest, the belt loop strips are stitched using Thread Fusion — a versatile tool for blending threads and transforming basic stitches into striking embellishments.

Weaving for Design + Texture

Weaving is optional, but it’s a fun and rewarding way to add rich texture to your Luxe Lounge Pillow.

For one of the panels, I used strips made with the Belt Loop Folder attachment to create a beautiful woven design. You can also use a single fabric panel if you prefer — both options create stunning results!

Weaving isn’t complicated, but it does take a little extra time. The payoff? A gorgeous, one-of-a-kind texture that sets your pillow apart. To see the technique in action, watch the Serger Savvy video below:

Thread Fusion Blending

I blended two 12-wt. threads in the chain looper using Thread Fusion, creating striking decorative coverstitch lines that feel like drawing in fabric with thread. These lines add visual interest and a personal touch to the pillow’s front panel.

Thread Fusion is a game-changer when embellishing — no longer just functional, these belt loop folder strips become eye-catching decorative trim. By blending threads with Thread Fusion, you can create rich texture and unique color effects, turning ordinary construction details into striking design features.

Thread Fusion is optional for this pattern, but it’s a versatile tool that blends threads beautifully in serging, embroidery, and quilting. Check out the demo video below to learn more.
